Never Forget

I first heard the news on the radio as I drove my 2 year-old daughter to daycare. I can still remember the exact spot on Flowood Drive in Flowood, MS. The remainder of the day was filled with disbelief, shock, anger, sadness and a total lack of comprehension of such evil. Eighteen years later it feels like it just happened. I cannot imagine the pain of those directly affected.

As I reflect on the horrifying scene of the crumbling towers and people jumping from windows, I am saddened and heartbroken. I am once again overwhelmed and in disbelief. At the same time I am reminded of God’s faithfulness. Of His plan and His promises, even in the midst of complete misunderstanding of why He would allow such an event to take place.

Today’s verse of the day in the Bible App comes from Proverbs 18:10 which reads, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe.”

The word, “tower” resonates with me for obvious reasons. Manmade towers will crumble; His tower (His Word) will never fail.

We should remember 9-11-01. Always. We should think about where we were and what we were doing when we first heard the news. And we should pray. For those whose lives were forever changed. For those who continue to fight for our freedoms. And we should run to the tower. His tower, His Word. Run to Him. In these moments of remembrance and everyday. As believers in Christ, we are safe in His arms, safe in His plan. On this 9-11 and every 9-11 for eternity.
