Are you expecting guests in your home this holiday season? Here’s a few quick things you can do to make family and friends feel welcome and extra special during Thanksgiving and Christmas or anytime:
Hospitality Basket: Fill a basket, decorative container or bucket with bottled water, chocolates, nuts and other individually-wrapped snacks. Place on a nightstand, dresser or directly on the bed. Incorporate Valentine’s Day hearts, chocolate Easter eggs, candy corn, Christmas tree snack cakes and other seasonal/holiday goodies as appropriate.
Toiletries Basket: Fill a small container with small soaps, toothpaste/toothbrush, razor and other travel-size personal items. Place on guest bathroom counter.
Extra Towels: Stock plenty of washcloths, hand towels and bath towels in guest bathroom.
Bed Tray: Put a vase of fresh or silk seasonal flowers, framed Wifi information and one or two small decorative items on a bed tray and place in the middle of the bed.
Extra Bedding: Stack extra pillows, sheets, blankets, afghans and quilts in the guest bedroom closet.
Welcome Note: Write a handwritten note on pretty stationery or note card and place on nightstand or bed tray.
Easy Reading: Place lifestyle/social magazines, light humor and other good reads in a magazine rack or basket in the guest bedroom.
Journal/Guest Registry: Place a blank-page journal with a pen on the dresser and invite guests to leave behind a note.
Local gift: Purchase a graphic coaster, photograph, calendar or other local item as a souvenir for the guest to take home. Place on the nightstand with the welcome note.
Nightlight: Consider placing a nightlight in the hallway just outside the bedroom if guest isn’t familiar with your house layout.
